Short Bio:

Matthias Maurer received a master's degree (Dipl.-Ing.) in Technical Mathematics (focus: Finance- and Insurance Mathematics) from Graz University of Technology, Austria, and a master's degree (Mag.) in Education (for Mathematics and Computer Science) from the University of Graz. He started working at the Cognitive Science Section (CSS) at the Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science (ISDS) at Graz University of Technology, Austria. In the context of these affiliations, he participated in the RAGE research project, focusing on serious gaming. After working as a software development and mathematics teacher at the HTL, Peter Mahringer, in Shkodra, Albania, he returned to Graz in order to work at Virtual Vehicle. Currently he is employed as senior data scientist at Magna International, in the Advanced Manufacturing Inovations devision, in the Data Analytics, Simulations, and IoT group.

Research and professional interests:

His research focuses on data science in various contexts, as well, as technology-enhanced learning, in particular, serious gaming and the application of its methods in other contexts. More recently, he focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance in assembly and production lines.
